OpenAI has announced a major partnership with Samsung Electronics. Under the agreement, more than 120,000 of the company’s employees worldwide will gain access to ChatGPT Enterprise Edition and Codex—one of the largest contracts in OpenAI’s history.
The rollout covers employees in South Korea and the Device Experience (DX) division globally. As of the end of 2024, Samsung Electronics employed approximately 262,000 people, of whom ~51,000 were in DX and ~78,000 in DS.

Codex, originally a tool for developers, has now become a universal platform that supports non-technical roles. OpenAI reported that the number of weekly active Codex users has exceeded 5 million, and in South Korea, this figure has grown by nearly 800% since February of this year.
The enterprise version of ChatGPT has been specifically optimized for data protection, user rights management, and security controls. This ensures that employees use cutting-edge AI technologies in accordance with company policy.
