1 min read

In short

The author tested Claude Code and found that AI does indeed eliminate routine, but along with it goes the useful “friction” that helped filter ideas. Let’s explore why the absence of routine isn’t always a good thing.

Many reviews promise that AI will free us from routine tasks and give us wings. The author decided to test this out for himself by installing Claude Code.

What has changed?

  • Routine tasks have indeed been streamlined—tasks that used to take a week are now completed in an evening.
  • The “friction” has disappeared—that very barrier that gets in the way but also keeps you disciplined.

However, along with the friction, something important was lost. Before, testing an idea required effort. Now ideas are tested instantly, but the author realized: friction served as a filter. Without it, there’s a temptation to endlessly generate and test ideas without ever seeing them through to the end.

> “I opened a box of ideas, but when the friction was gone, I felt it to the fullest.”

Conclusion

Claude Code is a powerful tool, but using it requires mindfulness. Automating routines is helpful, but replacing healthy “friction” can rob your work of depth and focus.
